Experimental Instrument Design Classes

I'll be starting a 4 part course by November. The course is based on Experimental Electronic Instrument Design from existing circuits. This IS NOT a course in electronics. Little to no electronics knowledge is nessesary and nothing but basic electronics knowledge will be provided as we go.

You will be soldering, drilling, cutting and using your brain and imagination.

The first class is the very basics of circuit bending then we move through the next three classes working with more advanced circuits and creating full fledged beautiful custom instruments utilizing those circuits.

Rehousing, change of context, switch building, conceptual work and more.

By the end of the first class you will have a circuit bent instrument either finished or in the works (that's up to you) - as simple or complex as you want to make it...

By the end of the final class you will hopefully have completed a custom instrument or effects processor and will have the knowledge of how to do it again.

At the end of the last class you should have an instrument okayed by me that you will be able to sell to cover the cost of the class.

When the couse is finished I intend to have a layout for the next course which moves into accoustic-electronics utilizing the knowledge of the previous course should you decide you'd like to continue.

Most of the parts and tools are supplied.

Classes will be held once a week over the couse of a month - each class lasting at least 2 hours.

The course should be experience in full - meaning no discount for dropping the first of the four classes...If you already have a knowledge of how to circuit bend you may still gain knowledge on how to make your work better and longer lasting.

The course is $200 and includes many of the parts and supplies you'll need as well as the use of tools. You will be asked to purchase certain items from a list on your own time and have them prepared when you get to class.

For an idea of some of the things that are along the lines of what you may be creating please have a look around the site.
